The beginning of summer is always bittersweet to me. It marks the end of another school year with goodbyes to teachers and friends. Sometimes it marks the end of a life season such as Senior and Preschool mommas getting ready to let their baby birds fly, a topic explored in this issue’s “How I Survived the Empty Nest”.
To fill the summer days, consider signing your children up for Vacation Bible School or a Christian camp! VBS is usually free to attend for school age children at most churches. According to The Effective Camp Research Project (ECRP), kids who attend religious camps are over three times more likely to keep their faith five years into the future when compared to children who did not attend faith-based camps.
We wish our featured Hometown Graduates the best of luck in their future endeavors and pray this prayer over all Odessa grads: Father God, we pray for your wisdom and direction for our children as they make decisions. Teach them to know and listen to your voice. Please give them a heart to obey your Word and a desire to do what is right. Help them to grow and develop the gifts and talents you have placed in them to bring you glory. And finally God, give them understanding beyond their years and make clear the right path for the journey they are now on. AMEN.
