Wichita Falls is known for friendly faces and a small town feel with the amenities and opportunities of a large metropolitan area. You don’t have to look far to see noteworthy accomplishments from neighbors and boast worthy entities putting us on the map. Sheppard Airforce Base is one such place and we were excited to feature the Air Force Cycling Team on this issue’s cover. You can also check out some familiar faces in this issue’s Women You Should Know.
The Christmas season is here, so give Wichita Falls the gift of shopping local. Party dates are filling the calendar, so look here first to fill your list.
Wichita Falls is an amazing place to call home, full of friendly people. Take a look at what some of your neighbors are up to in this edition. We so enjoyed meeting Aaron (on the cover) and love all that FFA stands for. If your children are looking for a way to get involved beyond the typical sports arena check out FFA, FCCLA, and 4H today!
We want to thank our generous advertisers who make WFL possible by their participation in this publication. Let them know you saw their ad in this issue!
We are excited to bring you a new special section featuring Faces of Wichita Falls (pg 38). Take a moment to read the personal and work excerpts from these interesting professionals around town.
Tell the contributors in this edition your saw their ad here in Wichita Falls Living Magazine. It is thanks to them that this copy is complimentary to you! I have summer on my mind! Teachers and kids alike are already on countdown mode. To help you prepare for your children’s upcoming vacation, take a look at our Summer Camp Guide (pg 84) with activities to make the most of these fun months. Don’t forget to also research VBS dates. Vacation Bible School is one of our favorite summer activities! Volunteers at every denomination work hard to prepare fun ways for your children to learn about Jesus and make new friends
This edition is full of Hometown Happenings, a few of the many worthwhile events that have taken place over the past few months. As you can see, we are busy here in Wichita Falls. There are so many opportunities to get involved in this one of a kind caring town. Take a look within these pages to find an organization or cause that appeals to you. As you will hear time and again you will get more than you give when you choose to spend your time helping others.
Wedding season is on the move. Please contact us for information on our Hometown Wedded Bliss section for consideration in future editions. On the cover is a gorgeous toddler playing in the rare snow we received this season. With babies in mind, we are excited to announce our newest addition to the Martin family, Guy David, born this November. Have your photographer share a picture of your bundle of joy with us today. Email Tabitha at content@ hometown-living.com
As always thank you for reading your Hometown magazine!
We were so thrilled with the wonderful submissions of high school and college graduates this edition. We want to congratulate them and wish them well in the steps ahead, acknowledging the major milestones accomplished by completing their degree – be it high school or college. If you have a graduate coming up in the year ahead please contact us for information on sharing their photo in future issues. And don’t forget to shop local for those graduation gifts. Check out the Index of Advertisers list (located at the back of the magazine) and start shopping! P.S. selecting a gift that can be monogrammed always ensures that towel or bag isn’t lost in the mix of roommate’s belongings. Inquire within for shops that can help.
With summer around the corner and weddings in mind, we invite you to share your engagement, wedding, or milestone anniversary with us for consideration in future issues! We would love to help you celebrate with an announcement in Wichita Falls Living Magazine. This is your HOMETOWN publication – let these pages reflect your life here by sharing your human interest article ideas with us, as well as, events for consideration in the Hometown Happenings section.
This issue is full of great people in our community using their gifts for good in a variety of ways. We are each given different talents, but what good are they if we keep them to ourselves? Let your light shine by using those talents as you are called to do! What are your gifts? How can you put them to use today? A small act can make a big difference in someone’s life.
I love this time of year. Although each new day really is a fresh start, most of us are not as intentional with that clean slate as we are in the New Year. Instead of resolving to eat healthy & exercise (which I should add to my list too) I want to resolve to be present with my family – including my extended family.
Last year I copied and scanned every picture I could find from my 92 year old Grandmother and asked her to label the names of the faces as I pasted them to blank pages…these faces from the past brought our family to where we are today. It is a reminder that the decisions Matt & I make today have a ripple effect for our family tomorrow. In 2018 praying and resolving to make positive ripples!
On behalf of Wichita Falls Living & our advertisers (see a full list in the back of this publication) we thank you for shopping local, not only during this past Christmas season, but year round.

I love this time of year. This season, take a moment to reflect and slow down. Yes, it takes effort to slow down - especially with the impending holiday rush, but how else can you treasure the memories being made if you are too busy to enjoy them? Let’s try to be intentional, put our phones away and be present!
Every season has its benefits and joys, but summer alone allows, even demands, lazy days and late nights. While in the midst of my summer bliss I was more than a little unnerved to see school supplies being put out before the 4th of July, but August is here and school is in session which forces us back into the routines fall imposes. This issue of Wichita Falls Living reflects on a few of the many summer events that we all enjoyed around town. If your organization has an event coming up we would love to consider it for our Hometown Happenings section. Contact our Content Coordinator, Tabitha, for more information.
All of us at Wichita Falls Living are thrilled to feature Ann Arnold-Ogden (on our cover) this edition. She personifies the saying, ‘leave it better than you found it.’ Although she is not originally from Wichita Falls she has made it her home and continues to give back making Wichita Falls a better place! For those baseball lovers out there, you will be proud to know that Leland Wetzel, owner of Xylo Bats, has put Wichita Falls on the map in a major way. Read more about his story in ‘Three Strikes You’re In.’
We have a lot to be proud of here in Wichita Falls! A successful soccer team, neighbors who care, and a rich history that is being preserved. You will read about these and more in this issue’s articles.
With graduation upon us, Wichita Falls Living is proud to feature a few of the many local graduates to cross the stage this May. Share a picture of your favorite scholar with us for consideration in upcoming issues. My oldest child, Gatlyn (5), is graduating from pre-k moving on to kindergarten next fall. My niece, Shyann, will be graduating from Angelo State University this May as well. Two major milestones, both could bring tears to my eyes, but regardless it is an exciting season. We congratulate all the graduates in your family!
There are so many things going on around town and many milestones are being celebrated this year. Read ‘A Golden Celebration’ to learn about the fun festivities planned commemorating Wichita Falls Museum of Art at Midwestern State University’s 50 years. Generations have volunteered to help make these past 50 years possible and we were able to speak with a few of the many who contribute.
To get your complimentary copy go by any advertiser location listed in the back of the magazine in the Index of Advertisers. Let them know you saw their ad here in WFL. As always we thank you for reading Wichita Falls Living.
We are excited about fall…to me it means more than football and a drop in temperatures….it means memories with my babies and holiday traditions ahead! Below are a few pictures of falls past with my two children, Gatlyn and Georgia Lee, as well as Casey’s precious 3 year old Jorie Cait. Time never seems to go by as quickly as it does when you look at your child’s growth over a few short years.
We want to see your families’ pictures too. What pictures are we looking for? Take your pick – expecting a baby? Email us with a newborn picture for Hometown Bundles of Joy. Have you recently been married, engaged, or celebrated an anniversary? Share you announcement with us in Hometown Wedded Bliss! Have a child graduating? On the cover, Mrs. Vikki Holcomb at Storkland was kind enough to give us an out of the box story idea about local Dads and their involvement with parenting. We all know how important a mother is, but let us not forget the vital role a father plays. “Anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special to be called a Daddy.” With sweet babies in mind, we would like to introduce the newest member of the Martin family, Georgia Lee Martin, born November 6th.
